News ReleasesNews you'll want to knowNuUnion: Strong and enduringHere for you when you need us most. There's been a lot of talk about the financial services industry in the media and on the streets today. Be assured that NuUnion Credit Union is strong and enduring. NuUnion's conservative practices and past experience is serving us well as our national and state economies continue down unprecedented paths. Credit unions are very different than many of the stories that you may have read or heard about, primarily because our business is found in the communities we serve, not on Wall Street. The money we lend is based on that which we have on deposit, not on investments made elsewhere. And credit unions are heavily regulated by federal and state agencies. Our capital rating is strong and 28% higher than what regulators characterize as "well-capitalized." Our worthiness of federal insurance on over $650 million of deposits has never been questioned. NuUnion never participated in the subprime mortgage market, but we have seen an increase in losses. This has been a direct result of the hard times our own members have come upon with job losses or unforeseen family financial situations. When possible we've helped those members. But, we've endured those losses and have no reason to believe they'll have long-term impacts on our financial condition. And while some financial institutions are having challenges with liquidity, that's not a problem for NuUnion. We can meet our obligations at a moment's notice, and should we ever need additional credit, we have the ability to acquire it. NuUnion's strong financial position allows us to serve our members – with auto loans, mortgages, student loans, and more – when others have pulled back. At NuUnion, our members are our first priority. In recent months, we've seen our membership grow as people look for real value in a financial institution they can trust. We are happy to serve you and promise never to take your trust for granted. We appreciate your membership and the opportunity to serve you. Sincerely,
